Mallorca had been on my radar for quite a while and when I read that Park Hyatt was opening its first European resort on the island I was sure that this was the right time to go back. Park Hyatt Mallorca is a dream retreat which reflects the style of a traditional Mallorquin hilltop village with references of local art and cultural heritage matching perfect views and top-notch fine dining. It´s a great pleasure to share with you my experience in this paradise. Enjoy the ride!
THE ISLAND
Mallorca is well known for its natural beauty and party mood. First time I visited was almost 20 years ago. I am ooooold! Help! And to be very honest – I didn’t remember a lot – it was a bit of a crazy time in my life, I was travelling with friends, we were partying a lot and I didn’t really care about finding the special parts of this pretty island. I am happy I decided to come back. And the vibe this time was completely different.

Majorca, also spelled Mallorca in Catalan and Spanish, is the largest among the Balearic Islands, which are part of Spain and located in the Mediterranean.

The capital of the island, Palma, is also the capital of the autonomous community of the Balearic Islands, an autonomous region since 1983. The other Balearic Islands are Menorca, Ibiza and Formentera.
Mallorca offers everything you can imagine: pristine beaches, parties, great restaurants, adventure and secret peaceful corners. I might admit that I was totally after natural beauty, good service and tailor made experiences. We got it all at Park Hyatt Mallorca.

THE HOTEL
Quite remote from major tourist centres in the south-west of the island, the new resort is laid out like a traditional island village, with low-lying buildings arranged around a central square – a design scheme that works really well. There’s gorgeous greenery and plenty of outdoor space for relaxing with a book or indulging in tapas and wine al fresco.

After some days in the hotel I started thinking that I was in a real village. There is the central café, “the river” (huge swimming-pools and a real river that crosses the property), the restaurants… And all of that with Park Hyatt amenities and services. I wish real life could follow this standards. Hahaha!

The property is huge to the point that it took me some days to really understand where I was and where things were – I actually thought about using a GPS but that would be too much. Haha! So, even though the hotel was almost fully booked, you never ever get that impression. There are so many great things to do with your day that guests are really spread around the place.

As soon as we arrived we had a talk with the concierge and we were very excited to explore the island. Jose clearly understood our needs and helped us to create our own itinerary. Nevertheless, as it usually happens when I am in paradisiac locations, we ended up not leaving the hotel as much as we planned at our arrival – the swimming pools were just too great, the spa kept on calling us and the restaurants were too attractive to allow us to explore… and all that drama. Still, I don’t complain because this is the perfect excuse to return, right?!

I have no doubt that Park Hyatt Mallorca has brought to Mallorca an unprecedented level of luxury and an unrivaled hospitality experience for its guests in a totally secluded area. Convinced? Go ahead and book your room here.

LOCATION
An easy 50 minute drive from Palma International Airport and about the same from the port, Park Hyatt Mallorca introduces its guests to the charm and beauty of the island’s quiet east coast and Cap Vermell – that means that countless sandy coves and quaint villages are within an easy drive.

This undiscovered, undeveloped part of the island is a new hot but don’t tell anybody destination, a hidden gem in the Mediterranean just waiting to be discovered. The secluded setting encourages guests to indulge themselves in the tranquillity of the resort and its surroundings and makes the most of exemplary five-star service with the most stunning views from almost every and each corner of the property as the hotel overlooks the scenic Canyamel Valley and Balearic sea.

The closest beach is Canyamel beach, which is around 15 minutes driving from Park Hyatt. There is a shuttle from the hotel every 30 minutes.

We rented a convertible (Yeah! Do it!) to explore the area around and the amazing Serra de Tramuntana. Deeply recommend it. But no worries! No need to prepare in advance as the concierge will definitely save you a lot of time. 🙂

ROOMS AND SUITES
Hey! It is Park Hyatt!!! This means rooms are always more than “big enough” and that beds will be Park Hyatt king beds.

The bathrooms are super spacious, light-filled, lined with Carrara marble, stocked with products by Bottega Veneta, outfitted with large tubs and televisions built right into the mirrors. In other words, there is no way to go wrong here.

There are 126 luxurious guest rooms and 16 exquisitely designed suites, seamlessly blending sophistication and elegance with timeless regional accents. The rooms and suites range in size from 50sqm to 150sqm and feature private terraces with gorgeous views of the verdant valley or Balearic Sea. Well, here an advice: book a room with a view! We enjoyed a view of the Valley and nothing beats this view at sunrise and sunset – I am not an early bird but I definitely woke up early to see it. I swear!

The Presidential Suite
Home away from home – 150 sq m suite with a king bed, a living area, dining area, kitchenette, writing room and spacious private terrace with a whirlpool, and stunning views overlooking the valley.

This is the sort of stay that traumatizes you when you leave. Hahaha! Real life sucks after staying in such a suite!
See all rooms and suites here.
POOLS
SURREAL! For sure my favourite area in the hotel! Huge, well designed, unique, peaceful, inviting… I will not have enough adjectives, guys! See with your own eyes!

This dream swimming pool is in the central part of the hotel and was the best in my opinion. Our favorite activity of the day was to lay down in the sun and order some wine or cocktails with yummy snacks that are served at the pool bar to watch the day goes by. All of that with a view of the tower or the beautiful valley. The pool is designed as a lagoon – it starts shallow and goes deeper and deeper.

Right next to it is the kids pool. Even though I don’t have kids I wanted to go and play. Haha! It is not only beautiful but also quite entertaining for the kids and comfy for their parents who can watch their offspring from cosy pool beds.

Also next to the main swimming pool there is the adults-only pool, surrounded by beautiful trees and flowers. A perfect place to watch the sunset in total silence. This swimming pool is temperature-controlled.

The whirlpool on the upper level is only for adults as well and very relaxing.

There is still another pool in the spa but I will explain this one a bit further in this article.

EAT
Fine-dining for every taste. There are varied dining experiences in different restaurants around the hotel village square, presenting a range of authentic cuisine with locally sourced ingredients from surrounding farms, fishing villages and artisan producers.

Balearic
This restaurant is an ideal setting to try specialties from Mallorca, Catalonia and mainland Spain in a chic and convivial atmosphere. Both the interior and the outside area are WOW and food was exceptional! I fell in love with their gorgeous open kitchen.

A super complete buffet breakfast is served here until 11:00 (yeah!) and I deeply recommend to sit outside, under the trees, for an amazing experience. Make sure to order from their special à la carte menu because the eggs and pancakes are unbeatable! My husband had to order egg Benedict’s with salmon and avocado every day and he loved it so much that he tried to copy at home. I guess you can imagine the result and he finally gave up.

The Brunch, on Sundays, is wonderful and very popular. There is everything and anything you can imagine, from delicious home made paellas to barbecue and never ending desserts choices.

Another highlight for us was the DJ playing outside (DJ Mark, one of the coolest on the island) creating a relaxed but cool atmosphere. Those types of meals you simply don’t want to end.

Asia
Where we had our most memorable night while in the resort – Don’t miss the Asian nights on Fridays!!!

Really really cool setting with a fantastic view and DJ playing for the sunset. Besides the à la carte menu, there are special Asian specials and signature cocktails to die for. The salmon tataki was perfect!

Other than that, Asia restaurant is open every day. The interior is very trendy and there are exclusive rooms, but honestly?! nothing beats the tables outside and the view of the Valley – make sure to reserve them with the concierge or online.

Food is mainly from Southeast Asia and I tasted their curry. Was yummy!

See the menu and reserve your table here.
Tapas Bar
Lively atmosphere to savor authentic Spanish tapas and wines in a social space with fantastic views.

There is an open kitchen where chefs prepare your tapas right in front of you if desired. Pretty cool, right?! Nevertheless, even though the interior is modern and well designed, nothing beats the views in Mallorca – Reserve a table outside here.

We tried the new Tapas Tapeo and loved it!

I just realised that I am always telling people to sit outside and I mean it. But attention! It can get a little bit cold at night during certain times of the year and in that case, enjoy the beautiful and carefully crafted interiors.
Café Sa Plaça
Sooooo cute! Café Sa Plaça is an exquisite open-plan bistro with a central family-style table and a separate, more intimate dining area, all highlighted by local Mallorcan artwork. This stunning café is the ideal place to unwind and relax while reading the daily newspaper and enjoying lunch, which is definitely very good.

Another highlight is that we can buy a “picnic to go” to explore the island. And everything is made with such great attention to detail…

Pool Side Bar
Already mentioned it here. LOVE IT! Not only my favourite area in the hotel but also very delicious meals and drinks. I previously mentioned alcoholic drinks but don`t get me wrong – the freshly squeezed juices and smoothies are also worth a try.

SERENITAS SPA
The place to be for those looking for rest and rejuvenation!!! We had a blast!

It is inspired by Alhambra, and that fact alone conquers my heart. Still, on top of that the Spa is beautifully designed and offers signature treatments with ESPA products, which I looooove!!!

The couples massage room is beyond reality – really pretty and with some stunning views of the Valley and the Mediterranean Sea.

The smell of Lavanda is all around and the sauna is unique! I don’t really like sauna but well, I gave it a go just because it was pretty. Yup! I am weird!

The Spa offers a selection of signature treatments using therapies inspired by local minerals, locally harvested organically grown fruit, vegetables, herbs and sea weeds. How cool is that?

There is an area with a small swimming pool where guests can relax.

Unmissable!
GYM
There is a big state-of-the-art gym in the property but we had such pretty sunny days during our visit that I did not have the time to try it. What a great excuse!
WHEN TO GO
All year long but if the idea is to enjoy the beach and swimming pools, go during the European Spring and Summer time.

That’s it folks! I hope you got a little idea of this amazing experience! I got a little bit depressed while seeing these photos because I would love to start this trip all over again. Hehe!
