One&Only Cape Town!!! Time to explore amazing Cape Town and literally its One&Only Luxury Resort. An unique experience in one of the most beautiful and vibrant cities in the world. Prepare yourself to a great and unforgettable trip. Enjoy the ride!
Cape Town (Kaapstad in Afrikaans and Ikapa in Xhosa), is known as the Mother City because it was the first to emerge in South Africa, modern and with a multicultural personality to a diverse range of people and events, from the indigenous Khoi and San peoples to local African tribes, from the European explorers to slaves from Malaysia, Indonesia, Madagascar and Mozambique, and from apartheid to democratic freedoms. A meeting point of many cultures, the result is a cosmopolitan city with a contemporary and eclectic vibe.
We decided to stay in one of the most iconic hotels in South Africa, the One&Only Cape Town. Beyond all the amenities and (lots of) things to do that the hotel offers, the view to the impressive Table Mountain made our trip full of magical moments.
A masterpiece and the first impression could not be better. With a great location spot in the city’s fashionable Victoria & Alfred Waterfront, One&Only overlooks the marina with panoramic views of Table Mountain, which are totally breathtaking!
I am talking about an ultra elegant and urban waterfront resort with unprecedented levels of luxury where you can combine stunning views with great food, an overwhelming spa, impeccable service and a sympathetic atmosphere. The hotel is divided in two islands and surrounded by modern apartments.
A tropical garden with flowers and giant palm trees + infinity pools make One&Only an oasis of peace and serenity set within one of Africa’s most vibrant and cosmopolitan cities.
One&Only Cape Town is a modern, fancy place and offers gracious hospitality for couples and families alike. During our stay we saw lots of families as well as many couples, some enjoying their honeymoon (
I can just regret I did not do the same during my honeymoon).
The perfect location to start your journey in this great city, smack in the glitzy Waterfront area, with direct access to the shops and marina. It is possible to arrive by chartered yacht (yay!!
But we did not do it! Hahaha!).
One&Only offers amazing suites with great amenities, modern style, wonderful views. A fantastic experience!
We loved the breakfast in our balcony room, a delicious and complete menu with everything we like, and of course champagne (cheers!) and an espetacular view to the Table Mountain. Best way to start the day!

SERVICES AND AMENITIES
You guys know how I love a spa and while I’ve been in the One&Only I really enjoyed the spa experience we had. It’s sensational!!! We did an amazing Mountain Tonic session which was really refreshing.
The hotel spa has as its politic to provide moments to relax and revitalise and we had no complains AT ALL! Haha!
After our full treatment with great professionals we were so relaxed that we stayed two extra hours just enjoying the moment – the only “problem” was meanwhile we didn’t enjoy the others services they can offer. Ops! But well, it’s a good excuse to come back, right?!
Ah, I almost forgot to mention the coolest thing: the spa is an island so you can arrive by boat or crossing a bridge. Soooo cool!
You can check all the treatments and how to book them in the One&Only Cape Town website.
The swimming pool
A hit in the hotel. A heated infinity-edge pool in one of the private islands with private sitting areas with double chaise lounges ideal for sunbathing or relaxing under shaded pavilions. I was in love for the cute ducks in this area and I truly believe we became friends. Hahaha!
A good tip for this area is to have lunch at Isola restaurant, which serves Mediterranean and South African food cooked to perfection.
The huge One&Only fitness center, located in the Marina Rise, offers a wide range of state-of-the-art equipment and programmes, from advance cardio machines and personalise training to yoga and Pilates.
You know I am not a fan of working out but if I would do it, it would be in this gym. Haha!
We went to the yoga session in the morning and it’s a very good way to start the day in this beautiful place.
Are you ready to enjoy one of most amazings restaurants in the city? Actually maybe in South Africa…Well, you will find Michelin stars, celebrity chefs and great wines at One&Only Cape Town.
I’m really a fan of Chef Matsuhisa! I love all his restaurants (all the ones I know and I have been to many), so we were very excited to taste his first and only restaurant in Africa. The mix of traditional Japanese, contemporary Peruvian and fresh and spice African cuisine make this an unique and flavourful place.
We were totally excited! The restaurant is super beautiful, with a translucent origami light that glides along the ceiling, impeccable service and the striking and exclusive menu made our experience unforgettable.
The best black cod on Earth! Trust me!
We unfortunately had no time to go but in the upper-level Nobu Lounge it is possible to taste a selection of Sakes, Japanese beer and Shochu based cocktails. Next time!
We had the pleasure to enjoy one of South Africa’s most exciting native talented chefs, Reuben Riffel, and his first urban restaurant featuring a menu which reflects a celebration of the Cape’s rich culinary heritage, embracing the ancient spice routes and the diversity of cultures that have influenced South African modern cuisine. All the menu was based on local and fresh food. An unmissable chance to taste the best flavours of South Africa!
The breakfast is served here and we loved it, an excellent service and a complete menu with everything one can imagine from fresh hummus, oysters, caviar and champagne to gluten free bread.
In the swimming pool area, in one of the islands of the complex, it is a gorgeous and tasty option to a nice lunch.
Such a relaxed atmosphere to enjoy a fresh menu of South African and Mediterranean cuisine.
Vista Bar and Longe
Situated in the very heart of the resort, in the middle of the lobby, views of Table Mountain are enjoyed through a floor-to-ceiling wall of glass as guests and locals alike gather to enjoy all-day dining, spectacular Afternoon Tea, and evenings filled with music and an electric vibe.
If you are looking for nice cocktails, tapas and good music with a VIEW, this is the place to be!
South Africa is internationally known for the wine culture and its unique options and high quality.
One&Only can take you on a journey of the Cape Winelands and we decided we wanted to join! Andy and I had an exclusive wine tasting in the stunning Wine Loft with our super kind sommelier who not only answered all of our doubts (and we had many!) but also made us laugh with some funny crazy stories and a lot of culture. It was like learning and having a lot of fun all together!
It was fantastic to taste rare South African wines such as Warwick Trilogy, Meerlust Rubicon and Kanonkop Paul Sauer and exceptional vintages from producers including Vergelegen, Thelema and Eben Sadies Columella and Palladius. WOW! Just WOW!!!
The sommelier explained they are always looking for lesser-known wine producing regions of the Cape in search of new offerings to the guests so probably when we come back we will be able to try something new.
First of all I have to mention how (good) surprised we were with the very efficient, fast and pleasant staff. My expectations were hight and I still got overwhelmed!
The concierge was very, super friendly, knowledgable and helpful. He simply could get a last minute table in the best restaurant in town and gave us an indication of bar with incredible drinks. We followed all his “instructions” and were pretty happy about it.
Nevertheless, he left the best for last and told us we had to visit the “new kid on the block”, The Commissary. It’s so cool, so cool and TASTY that I can’t find one single word to describe it. Highly recommended.
You nailed it, Concierge Feroz!!!
We made the tour offered by the hotel and it was everything we needed as we did not have a lot of time to explore. A private comfortable car with a driver, safe and with a very nice guide that knew EVERYTHING about the city and the country. A real class in a country full of history! We enjoyed each and every second.
Cape Town is a very cosmopolitan city and enjoys a four season Mediterranean climate with mild winters and warm summers: September–February (Spring/Summer) has an average temperature of 20°C/68°F; March–August (Autumn/Winter) has an average temperature of 17°C/63°F. As you see, it is enjoyable all year long!
HOW TO GET THERE
Approximately 22 kilometers from Cape Town International Airport; transfers are available by taxi, One&Only car service or helicopter.
Also, it is possible arrive by chartered yacht straight in the V&A Waterfront.
I hope you’ve enjoyed my impressions of this dreamy place! Keep on following my journey at @marineira on Instagram. Find out more about my days in Cape Town on Cape Town Highlights.
